Bachelor of Science in Music Education

The Bachelor of Science in Music Education is designed to prepare students for a career teaching instrumental or choral music P-12 in the public schools. This degree program meets national and state standards for the preparation of public school music teachers. In addition to the extensive music preparation, significant classroom observation experiences are included in the program, and a significant portion of coursework is devoted to Education courses and preparation.

Minor in Christian Studies

The minor in Christian Studies is designed for students in other academic fields who wish to expand their understanding of the general topic of Christian Studies The program requires 18 credits.

Minor in Missions

The Missions Minor is an eighteen hour minor that can be added to any of Truett-McConnell's degrees. It is designed to prepare students for evangelism and ministry in a variety of cultural and religious settings both foreign and domestic. The curriculum focuses on the basic theological disciplines with an additional emphasis in understanding and communicating the gospel cross-culturally and assists each student in shaping and sharing the Gospel in a more relevant and dynamic way wherever their future vocation may take them.

Minor in History

The minor in History is designed for students in other academic fields who would like to expand their understanding of the past. This minor requires a minimum of 18 hours in History.

ASSOCIATES DEGREES

Associate in Arts

This degree is designed for those students who desire a liberal arts based curriculum and wish to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree at a four-year institution, or who have not yet decided on a specific field of study. By following the program of study outlined, the student earns two years of credit that should closely parallel the first two years of study for either a liberal arts curriculum or a science curriculum at a four-year institution.

Associate in Business

This degree is designed for those students who wish to pursue a degree in business administration or a specialized area in business at a four-year institution. By following the program of study outlined, the student should earn two full years of credit toward a bachelor's degree at a senior institution.

Associate in Arts in Christian Studies

The Associate in Arts in Christian Studies degree is designed for students who wish to prepare themselves for fulltime or part time church vocational service, and who wish to engage in studies leading to a bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies. The program requires successful completion of 62-63 credits and may be accomplished in two full academic years.

Associate in Science

This degree is designed for those students who desire a liberal arts based curriculum and wish to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in mathematics or in science at a four-year institution. By following the program of study outlined, the student earns two years of credit that should closely parallel the first two years of study for a science curriculum at a four-year institution.

Associate in Music

Truett-McConnell College has one of only 20 two-year college music programs in the nation to be accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and was the only two-year music program in the state to be so accredited. The degree program available for the music student may lead to a variety of Bachelor of Music degrees (performance, education, music therapy, music business, church music, etc.).

Associate in General Studies

This degree is designed for those students who do not wish to follow a prescribed program of study. Students, with the close assistance of their faculty advisors, create their own individual plans of study.
