INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT  
The Infortmation Technology department uses technology to enhance student learning and meet the objectives of Truett-McConnell Colleges programs and mission statement and ensure that students have access to and training in the use of the technology. The office of Inforamtion Technology provides support for equipping, maintaining, upgrading and replacing educational hardware and sotware throughout the campus.
 
 
E-Mail Access / Internet / Wi-Fi
 
 
Information Technology provides internet access, phone services, cable and wireless access in the dorms as well as wireless access points through out the campus. This includes the Nix Student center, Cofer Library, Gymnasium, Cleveland Courts, Twin Springs, Hood building and the BCM building. In addition, students, faculty and staff have access to TMC E-Mail via our web portal.

Computer Labs 

The Truett-McConnell College Information Technology (IT) Department provides a variety of computer services for students, faculty and staff. The college has four computer labs that are open to students and have variable hours of operation. Computers in the Nix Student Center are available to students from 8:00am to 2:00pm with extended hours during the final exams. Other labs are for general use to complete homework assignments, work on projects, research, and receive computer-aided instruction. The math lab and the main lab in the Miller building serve specific needs of students enrolled in Introduction to Computers BU115, English 101C, Statisitcs MA200C and Math Modeling MA104C classes. The labs are also used for programs of academic support such as essay exams and placement test. The students also have access to printers in these labs.

 

Miller Lab A, Room 114

  • This lab contains 20 Pentium based student computers, one Pentium-based instructor computer and a network printer with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. All computers are connected to the College’s network. Lab hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding time periods a class is in session) and 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday. A lab assistant will be available for limited help during certain lab hours.

Miller Lab B, Room 213

  • Second floor of the Miller Building – This lab contains 10 Pentium-based student computers and a network printer with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. All computers are connected to the College’s network. Lab hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday.

Nix Student Center Lab

  • John L. and Sarah Nix Student Center – This lab contains 8 Pentium-based student computers and a network printer with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. All computers are connected to the College’s network. Lab hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Saturday and 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Sunday. 

Math Lab, Room 113

  • Located on the ground floor of the Miller Building in room 113. There are 11 computers connected to the network providing software for math classes and math assistance.

 Library

  • There are 7 computers connected to the network providing Library resources and access to the internet.

Cafeteria Plan Insurance Options

 
 
The college provides the following insurance benefits to each full-time employee.  The monthly cost to the employee is determined by the plan and type of coverage chosen.  Employees are to enroll in these programs within thirty (30) days of beginning employment and reenroll at annual enrollment.  Coverage under the insurance program begins on the first (1st) day of employment.

Employees may purchase (pre-tax) family coverage under the health, dental or vision plans as a benefit through the cafeteria plan.

Additionally, the College pays 100% of the cost of premiums for Long-Term Disability Insurance for all full-time employees of the institution. 

 

Other Cafeteria Plan Options

  • Employees may voluntarily purchase individual cancer policies from AFLAC on a pre-tax basis
  • Employees may voluntarily deposit payroll deductions into a Flexible Spending Account for medical and dependant care expenses.

Retirement

The college invests 7% of each employee's gross salary amount into an annuity plan with Guidestone Financial Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention.  Contributions begin immediately upon employment.  Employees are not required to make a contribution themselves in order to receive the 7% from the College, but may voluntarily contribute to the plan.  The plan is 100% employee vested from day one.
 
 

Enrollment in College Courses

 
 
Full-time employees, administrative officers, and faculty, and dependent members of their families, may enroll and take courses offered by Truett-McConnell College tuition free.
 
 

Dining Hall Privileges

 
 
Employees of the College may purchase meals in the dining hall for themselves and their immediate family at a reduced rate.
