Director of Marketing and Communications

Summary: The Director of Marketing and Communications serves and invaluable role in meeting the institutional mission and goals of Truett-McConnell College. The Director of Marketing and Communications will direct resources in telling the story of Truett-McConnell College throughout the various media and platforms of delivery desired by the President and the Cabinet. This will include, but is not limited to, oversight of the entire communications department, managing the web presence of the College, and managing the social media presence of the college. In order to fulfill the duties of this position, the director must also engage and develop external vendors and stakeholders to accurately and effectively tell the Truett-McConnell College story to a variety of constituent audiences in effective and compelling ways.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and vision for the College’s strategic and integrated marketing and communications functions. This will include the development of an effective, integrated marketing plan, including the strategies and tactics for implementation.
  • Provide effective, results-oriented leadership and management for the team of communications professionals at Truett-McConnell College.
  • Develop and protect the “brand” image of Truett-McConnell College. The result of the process of development of the “brand” image should resonate with faculty, staff, prospective and current students and alumni. The director should identify and refine the brand image using market research and in consultation with the President and Cabinet. The resultant “brand” elements are to be translated accurately and effectively into all College communications.
  • Utilize a research-based approach to identify key messages and audiences, and work consistently to tell the Truett-McConnell College story, weaving them together to create a consistent, unified message in support of the Truett-McConnell College “brand.”
  • Coordinate the creative development and placement of general College advertising
  • Identify effective marketing strategies using market research and mold said strategies as analysis dictates.
  • Facilitate with internal constituents and oversee, design and production of all marketing, public relations, and advertising products.
  • Develop, execute, and oversee programs necessary to communicate the College’s mission and performance to the public, including the press and news outlets.
  • Manage the use of the College’s logo in external communications
  • Develop strategy and execution for web site revisions, including content management systems, navigation and design
  • Develop data-driven marketing strategies for prospective students in collaboration with the Office of Admissions that are consistent with the integrated “brand” strategy
  • Develop data-driven marketing strategies for alumni, parents and friends in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Advancement that are consistent with the integrated “brand” strategy.
  • Ensure Truett-McConnell College’s web site content is relevant, accurate, outward facing, and engaging for all users.
  • Ensure the College’s major publications (online and print) are relevant, accurate and engaging for all readers.
  • Ensure Truett-McConnell College makes optimal use of traditional and new media formats for marketing and communication.
  • Assists faculty/staff with marketing of divisional special events as human and monetary resources allow
  • Produces content for College web site
  • Produces content for the College’s online and print publications
  • Helps with special projects as delineated by the President’s office
  • This position oversees a creative team of three communications professionals- specializing in Graphic Design, Content Management and Videography
  • This position reports directly to the Vice President for Student Services and Athletics
  • Team-Oriented leadership style.
  • Results-Focused evaluation skills both of strategies and personnel
  • Demonstrated acumen for communicating to prospective students and prospective donors as well as other requisite constituent audiences
  • Strong commitment to their personal walk with the Lord
  • Baptized by immersion and an active member of a local church
  • Person of integrity
  • The applicant must be conversant (not necessarily proficient) in Adobe Suite Software (such as InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)
  • The applicant must be conversant (not necessarily proficient) in the latest market research on web design and effective tools to efficiently use the web to advertise and market the message of the school
  • The applicant must be proficient in the understanding of how to effectively use all forms of social media in a higher education setting
  • The applicant should have a demonstrated track record of leading creative teams that produce results

 Secondary Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Educational and Professional experience in marketing, admissions, and advancement preferred.
