CLEVELAND, Ga. (TMCNews) -- Truett-McConnell College students hit the phones April 23 - 26 in the school's Annual Fund telethon.
The campaign raised thousands of dollars in pledges, and students reached hundreds of other people who expressed interest in supporting TMC financially.
Logging more than 3,000 phone calls in about 200 volunteer hours, an average of 18 students per night also updated alumni contact information, shared what God is doing at TMC, recorded scores of prayer requests, and chatted with countless friendly voices who related how God had blessed them during their time at TMC.
Many said they were called to ministry, and others had met their spouse at the school.
"We couldn't be happier about the dedication, commitment and courtesy of the students who assisted in this campaign," said Stacy Hall, director of grant development at TMC. "Many of the people noted how grateful they were to hear from us."Kevin Glisson (left) and Steven Crane (right) displayed superb people skills and aptitude for raising money during TMC's Annual Fund telethon. Hall said he was "deeply pleased to hear the compassion in the students' voices when they responded to the prayer requests from some of the folks they called." Several of the students prayed on the phone with those requesting prayer. Also, the staff of TMC's Office of Institutional Advancement later prayed for every noted prayer request.
"It was also particularly gratifying to observe these 20-somethings talking with alumni and donors, some of whom are well past retirement age," Hall said. "Truett-McConnell has a way of spanning the generations because of what God has done in the lives of students who attended here regardless of when that occurred."
Hall plans a telethon every semester for TMC's Annual Fund, which supports scholarships, academic and building programs, and mission trips.Annual FUN Drive? Yes, TMCers had fun, enjoyed pizza and soft drinks, and experienced Christian fellowship during the 4-day telethon.
