Bears Drop Opener at Faulkner
The Bears continued their run of games against future SSAC foes on Friday as they traveled to Montgomery, AL to take on Faulkner University in the opener of a 3 game series.  The Bears faced off against one of the SSAC's best pitchers statistically in Faulkner's Mike Zenko.  The Bears were unphased offensively as they pounded out 13 hits off Zenko and jumped out to a 4-1 lead.  The lead would not last however as the home team rallied for a 7-5 victory.  Christian White started and took the loss for the Bears.  Leading the way offensively for TMC were Jonathan Wilson (4-5 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 Run) and Teddy Leverett (2-4, 1 2B, 2 Runs).  The loss drops the Bears to 16-9 on the year.  They will return to action on Saturday as they close out the 3 game series with a DH begining at 1:00 (CST).

Lady Bears Drop DH to Crosstown Rival Piedmont
The TMC women's softball team returned to action on Tuesday as they traveled to Demorest, GA to take on crosstown rival Piedmont College.  The game was a homecoming of sorts for Head Coach Jenni Shepard who stared as a player and began her coaching career at Piedmont.  Despite two great pitching efforts from Jade Butler and Megan Fulcher the Lady Bears dropped both games by final scores of 3-0 and 5-3.  Butler went the distance in game 1 allowing only 7 hits and 2 earned runs but the offense could only scratch together 5 hits en route to the defeat.  Game 2 was tied 3-3 into the 6th where the home Lions scored 2 times to take the lead and eventual 5-3 victory.  Fulcher worked a complete game allowing only 5 hits and 3 earned runs in the loss.  Leading the way for the Lady Bears at the plate were Whitney Hillman (3-4 1 2B, 1 rbi, 1 run) and Dani Lyons (3-4).  Despite the defeats the Lady Bears still sport a winning 15-13 record on the year and will return to action at home on Saturday against Talladega College.

Bears Use Big Inning to Salvage DH Split
The Bears traveled to Frankling Springs, GA on Tuesday to take on future SSAC foe Emmanuel College in a DH.  Game 1 was all Emmanuel as former Bear Eric McGee had a huge day at the plate leading the home team to a 10-4 victory.  Blake Williams started and suffered the game 1 loss for TMC.  The Bears jumped on top in game 2 thanks to a 1st inning RBI single from Jonathon Wilson only to see the home team answer to tie the game in the bottom of the 1st before taking the lead 8-4 heading into the top of the 6th.  The Bears then put together their biggest inning of the season to date sending 14 men to the plate while scoring 10 times to take a commanding 14-8 lead.  The Bears would win the game by the same score as Ethan Seagraves worked 2.1 scoreless innings in relief to earn the victory.  Leading the way for the Bears on the day offensively were Terrell Jones (5-7, RBI, 3 Runs) and Rudy Rodriguez (3-3).  The Bears will return to action over the weekend as they go back on the road to Montgomery, AL to take on Faulkner University in a 3 game series that begins on Friday.

Baseball Once again Uses DH Split to Take Series
For the 3rd time in as many 3-game series this year the TMC Bears used a split in their Saturday double header to take 2 of 3 on the road at Talladega College in Talladega, AL.  Just as their other 2 previous 3 game series the Bears won game 2 by a final score of 18-14 before falling in game 3 4-1.  The Bears scored early and often in game 1 as they scored in all but 1 inning en route to the victory.  Leading the way for the Bears at the plate in game 1 were Tyler Bourdo (4-4 2 2B's, 5 RBI's, 3 runs) and Buck Harris (2-5 1 HR, 2 RBI's, 2 runs).  Joey Wood hung tough despite not having his best stuff to earn his 5th victory of the season.  Game 3 turned into a pitcher's dual amongst the birage of offense on the weekend as TMC's Daniel Ficarrotta and Talladega's Gabriel Viso battled.  The home Tornados used 4 unearned runs in the 4th inning to claim the victory.  Ficarrotta threw a complete game for the Bears allowing only 3 hits while striking out 7.  With the split the Bears move their record to 15-7 on the season and they will return to action as they travel to Franklin Springs, GA on Tuesday to take on Emmanuel College in a DH begining at 3:00.

Baseball Takes Opener at Talladega
The TMC Bears won the opening game of their 3 game series in Talladega Alabama against the Talladega Tornados by a final score of 17-12.  The Bears jumped on top early on the strength of a 3 run homerun off the bat of sophomore Jesse Brown in the top of the 2nd.  The lead would be short lived as the home team answered with a 3 run homerun of their own in the botom half of the 2nd.  The Bears would jump on top to stay scoring 4 times in the 3rd to take a 7-3 lead.  The Bears would extend the lead to 14-5 before the Tornados used a 6 run 8th inning to cut the lead to 14-11.  The Bears would get the knockout blow in the top of 9th thanks to a bases clearing 2 out triple off the bat of sophomore shortstop Nic Fryman.  On the day Fryman went 3-5 with 3 triples 4 RBI's and 3 runs scored.  Also having good days at the plate were Teddy Leverett (3-5 1 2B, 1 Run) and Terrell Jones (2-6 1 HR, 3 RBI's).  Starter Christian White worked 5 innings to earn his 4th win of the season.  The Bears will close out the 3 game series on Saturday with a DH begining at 1:00 (CST).
