Director of Financial Aid

 

 

Position Description:

Summary: The Director of Financial Aid reports to the Vice President of Student Services and Athletics. The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the awarding and management of all financial aid services and programs available to students at the institution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and evaluate financial aid personnel.
  • Review financial aid applications and determine financial aid awards as appropriate.
  • Oversee the generation of financial aid award letters.
  • Verify financial aid applications as selected by the U. S. Department of Education.
  • Be knowledgeable and conversant with Federal, State, and institutional rules and regulations concerning student financial aid; insure that all financial aid personnel adhere to all rules and regulations applicable to financial aid.
  • Certify student loan applications
  • Reconcile accounts with the Business Office.
  • Entering Free Application for Federal Student Aid Applications online.
  • Receiving electronic Student Aid Reports (ISIRs).
  • Prepare aid files for packaging and award.
  • Entering and transmitting data for Pell Grant (originations and disbursements) using PowerFaids and EDconnect.
  • Process Disbursements to Business Office
  • Ensure that Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is checked every semester.
  • Notify students of ineligibility due to SAP failure.
  • Complete the FISAP by October 1 every year
  • Complete IPEDS report every year
  • Certify State Student Incentive Grants, maintenance of records and reporting of expenditures.
  • Assign jobs to students under Federal and institutional work programs and maintain student work records.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Present programs on financial aid planning for prospective students and their families.
  • Ability to use Power Faids and update system once a year for new year processing
  • Maintain and award institutional aid and scholarship.
  • Updating and printing institutional applications and other forms
  • Maintain membership in appropriate professional organizations and help identify appropriate development opportunities for the financial aid office.
  • Assist prospective and enrolled students in completing the financial aid application process.
  • Assist with federal and state audits
  • Contribute toward a positive attitude and relationship with co-workers and the campus community; presenting a composed, professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Be productive and self-motivated; demonstrate a high degree of personal integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Oversees the office of Student Financial Services

  • Assists the Admissions staff during Preview days by presenting to those present an overview of Financial Aid options
  • Directs the Communications staff in the production of relevant internal and external financial aid pieces
  • Ensures a presence on Move-In day to help families with financial aid needs
  • Helps with special projects as delineated by the President’s office
  • This position oversees all employees in the financial aid office and the office of Student Financial Services
  • This position reports directly to the Vice President for Student Services and Athletics
  • Team-Oriented leadership style.
  • Results-Focused evaluation skills both of strategies and personnel
  • Demonstrated acumen for customer service and being able to handle difficult inter-personal situations
  • Strong commitment to their personal walk with the Lord
  • Baptized by immersion and an active member of a local church
  • Person of integrity

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Admissions staff during Preview days by presenting to those present an overview of Financial Aid options

Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Educational and Professional experience in financial aid strongly preferred.
