Outstanding First Days with Two Saved

Tuesday, March 9 2010

TMC Missions Team to Pittsburgh has had  four incredible days of ministry. Some days the team was separated into two teams and worked with different churches, other days everyone worked together. The Lord has been providing a plethora of opportunities for sharing the Gospel of Christ these first few days. TMC students filled their days and some nights serving the Lord through free car washes, giving out Gospel info with candy at the hockey game, distributing bread to the community, prayer-walking, surveying the community for a church plant, providing childcare for newly formed Bible studies, and door to door evangelism. And on Tuesday the Lord welcomed two more into His kingdom.  While out knocking on doors and surveying a community in Coraopolis Jeremy Cranor had the distinct pleasure to lead a man approx 40 years old to faith in Christ. Later Tuesday evening while talking with a 14 year old young man at the community center Levi Fergunson and Alexis White-Rainey watched as God touched the heart of this young man and forever changed his life. It is with great anticipation that the TMC students head to bed, just waiting to see what God has in store for tomorrow as they begin working with Pittsburgh Baptist. Please keep the Pittsburgh Missions team in your prayers as they seek to be faithful to Him and serve His Church in  the Pittsburgh area.

What is a successful ministry?

Monday, March 8 2010

What is a successful ministry?  I think our team got a glimpse of one
today.  We served at Faithbridge Baptist, a church plant in McKees,
PA. Pastor Hogan answered God’s call to plant a church there.  It’s
not a glamorous location. In fact it’s quite difficult to keep the
ministry going in this area.  Low income families with kids who have
no male influence in the home make up the majority of the
neighborhood.  Nevertheless Pastor Hogan left a high paying job to
plant his life among the people here.  He’s bi-vocational out of
necessity for his family.  His 4 small kids don’t have the benefit of
a mega-church kid’s program.  And even after 4 years there and
marginal numbers, one might wonder, “Is this success?”
I think it is.  Faithfulness and perseverence to the task God has
given is true success.  Numbers never tell the whole story.  Our
students got a first-hand missions education on what a family on
mission for God looks like with even the kids pitching in to make the
ministry happen.  It was wonderful to watch a family involved in a
church not to get something out of it for themselves but to serve
others and proclaim the glory of God.
By the way our students served admiredly loving on the kids and
showing and telling them about the love of Christ.  Continue to pray
for us this week.
