Mission Statement: To provide active intramural and extramural programs that promote sportsmanship among students while encouraging a Christ-centered atmosphere of competition. How do I sign up for a team? For team sports, a student may put together his or her own roster or request to be placed on a team by the intramurals coordinator. Rosters and rule packets are available outside the intramural office on the second floor of the Nix Student Center. Do I have to be a great athlete to play? Absolutely not. Although a couple of teams per sport will usually be very competitive, some teams will also play "just to have fun." What are the eligibility requirements to play? Each intramural participant must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 or be a first semester freshman pursuing his or her first hours of college credit. Participants in collegiate athletics are usually asked not to participate in intramural sports until their sport season is completed. How much of my time will playing intramural sports take? Flag football and basketball are both season sports that last approximately six weeks. All other sports are tournament sports that last one week or less. All sports are played in the afternoon or early evening with the exception of intramural basketball, which is played at night. Teams playing season sports may expect to play two to three games per week. Is there a fee for playing intramural sports? Truett-McConnell College does not charge a separate fee for intramural sports. The vast majority of student activities are free and open to all interested participants. What employment opportunities are available through intramural sports? Student referees and scorekeepers are employed during flag football and basketball season. Applications are available during the hiring period outside the intramural office. If you have any questions or comments about the intramural program, come by the office upstairs in the Nix Building or call (706) 865-2134 Ext. 123.
