This week in chapel, TMC students and faculty were privileged to have the Truett-McConnell College Music Department present a Christmas concert at the First Baptist Church of Cleveland.

The featured ensembles were the Chorale, Enthroned Praise, Jazz Ensemble, and the Percussion Ensemble. Each of these groups did a phenomenal job and their efforts showed off! Thank you to all of those who participated in this special chapel service which reminded all in attendance about the fun we can have during Christmas time and most importantly, that the true reason for Christmas is Jesus Christ.

Truett-McConnell College was privileged to host Dr. Ergun Caner in chapel this morning. Dr. Caner spoke a message filled with encouragement, hope, a bit of humor, and of course, a handful of love. His message was from Galatians 6:9-18. Galatians was written in the middle of Paul’s ministry. This is a very important aspect in the understanding of the book: the half way point is always the toughest. Paul writes and tells us how to survive when we are right in the middle. The following are Dr. Caner’s 3 points of survival:

  • Your scars will tell your story and you cannot hide them
  • Your haters will keep you holy
  • Your worst pain can become your greatest power

Our scars tell our story – and God wants to use our story!

“From now on let no one cause trouble for me, for I bear on my body the brand-marks of Jesus.” Galatians 6:17

Truett-McConnell students and faculty were privileged to hear from Rick Stanley in chapel this morning. Stanley has a very unique testimony and an impressive background which provides avenues for him to share the gospel with a very wide range of people; he was the step-brother and assistant to Elvis Presley.

He shared about his difficult childhood which ultimately led to the blessing of salvation for him and his family, as well as a fervent spirit in sharing the gospel. Mr. Stanley reminded attendees of how everyone has issues; but the way to fix those issues is to surround yourself with godly people and to let the reality of the cross transform your life. TMC thanks Mr. Rick Stanley for encouraging and inspiring us to focus our eyes on the cross and on the winning of people to Jesus Christ.

Ezekiel 36:26-27, "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances."
